BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD), BRAC University

BRAC University, established in 2001, is one of the leading institutions of higher education in the country. The University’s goal is to provide an excellent broad-based education with a focus on professional development for students, in order to equip them with the knowledge and skills necessary for leading the country in its quest for development. BRAC Institute of Governance and Development (BIGD) was established in June 2013 through the merger of the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS) and the BRAC Development Institute (BDI) at BRAC University. It is a centre of excellence in post graduate education and research, as well as advocacy based on rigorous research.

Masters in   Development Management and Practice (MDMP)

MDMP is an innovative, cross-disciplinary, graduate program that combines classroom teaching on the latest advances in development theory and practice with hands-on field experience.

The curriculum challenges students to seek integrated approaches to development, drawing on the natural and social sciences and management practice. Students will undertake extensive field trips to comprehend the complex dynamics of poverty and development and explore the great advances made in large scale development interventions in Bangladesh. The Program was developed in collaboration with the Earth Institute at Columbia University, USA. It belongs to a Global Network of Masters in Development Practice Program comprised of 29 universities around the world. Four batches have successfully completed MDMP Program at BRAC University and the fifth batch of students is now pursuing their degrees. From 2015 BRAC has awarded scholarship to students of MDMP Program who have outstanding academic result and work experience.
