We are excited to announce the appointment of Max Genin as the Regional Leader for North America, under the Regional Students and Alumni Advisory Council (SAAC) within the Global Master’s in Development Practice (MDP) Association, hosted by the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the SDG Academy. Concurrently, he will serve as the Global MDP Representative at Harvard Extension School, Harvard University, where he is pursuing his Masters in Global Development.
In his new role, Max will spearhead regional interests, liaise with the Global SAAC, provide input on the MDP curriculum, and further the Global MDP’s mission in North America and abroad to enhance the presence, collaboration, and potential of the Association, including organizing the Sustainable Development Conference scheduled for September in New York. Max is a dynamic youth leader and advocate for sustainable development and social equity, with extensive experience with development initiatives, policy-making, and multilateral work.
As Founder and Director of Afflican, he empowers development practitioners through co-created projects, advancing SDGs 8, 10, and 17. Max has spearheaded federal research and social projects, collaborating with government agencies and organizations for SDG, R&D, and social innovation programs. As the Advocacy Lead at the Youth Advisory Committee for Good Neighbors Canada, a humanitarian organization, he led efforts for new grant opportunities for youth-led projects.
His policy work has championed initiatives for access and opportunity in education, emphasizing his commitment to amplifying voices in the global development discourse. His leadership and advocacy have earned recognition at numerous international forums, including the United Nations, where he contributed substantially as a Delegate at the UN ECOSOC Youth Forum and in drafting a CSO Pact for the Future with the International Governance Forum.
Max holds degrees in International Development, European Policy, and Law from institutions including the London School of Economics and Political Science (UOL), the European Institute (CIFE), and Leeds (LLS). He is committed to empowering development practitioners with resources and opportunities, leveraging the immense reach, potential, and uniqueness of the Global MDP, echoing its mission to foster sustainable, inclusive development and create pathways toward prosperity for all
